City of Iron River issued the following announcement on July 8.
Attention--------There is a person that is calling with a Marquette telephone number claiming to be a representative from UPPCO.
He says your power is scheduled to be shutoff for nonpayment. He tells you to contact Brian Campbell (or another name) also with a Marquette phone number.
When you call this number, you will be directed to purchase a money pack which can be purchased at Family Dollar or Dollar General.
THIS IS A SCAM!!!! Just hang up your phone and do not provide them with any information.
