City of Bessemer issued the following announcement on Aug 13.
Thank you everyone for all your patience as we muddle through this construction project. Jake's Excavating is doing a great job moving forward but it does mean getting through town is difficult this year. We had to focus on the streets south of US-2 near town this summer because of the MDOT detour next summer.
Next week Moore St will be reopening however, Clayberg from US-2 to Longyear will be closed. Likewise, Jake's will be pouring curbs on Hematite so we ask that only people living on the road or who have no other route home use the road.
The MDOT traffic light should be coming down soon.
Here is a map of roads south of US-2 that will be open next week. We encourage you to use the old US-2 route if you wish to avoid the traffic on US-2.
Thanks again for all your understanding. It will be nice to get new streets, water lines, and sewer lines but we completely understand that it is hard to get around right now.
