Device Distribution - KMS & KHS

Computer coding

Breitung Township School District recently issued the following announcement.

Hello 5-12 Students and Parents:

Kingsford Middle and High Schools will be continuing their one-to-one initiative this year. This means students have the ability to get a device from the school or they can take advantage of our Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) policy for the 21-22 school year.

  • School Device: Device distribution will occur during first hour on August 25th at KHS and during PrimeTime at KMS. If a student is not present during that time, they will be able to pick-up their device at their respective Media Center when they return. If a student had a device last year, they will receive that device and all equipment they turned in. If they did not return a charger and/or case at the end of the last school year, they need to locate those items at home or purchase replacements at their Media Center. 5th graders and 9th graders will be receiving new devices during this time. If they are going to utilize the BYOD program, they do not need to take a device, but they must follow the BYOD rules and agreement outlined below.
  • If you have a student who wishes to use their own device at school instead of a school-issued chromebook, please review the BYOD rules and agreement: https://flivver.info/btsbyod. Note a device approved for the classroom must be a laptop or chromebook running ChromeOS, Windows or Mac OS.
Use of a school device and/or the BYOD program is a privilege, not a right. Any students who do not comply with the Appropriate Use Policy and/or BYOD agreement will lose those privileges.

Sincerely,

Justin Cowen, Director of Learning Technology

Derrek White, Director of Network Operations
