City of Crystal Falls issued the following announcement on Feb 3.
Attention City of Crystal Falls Electric Customers:
It has come to our attention that there are people making phone calls to our customers stating: if they don't pay their utility bill by 6pm we will shut off the power or another one is~ we will be there to change their Electric meter but there is a fee of $500.
I assure you, if you haven't received a disconnection notice or door hanger and if its after our work hours, we will not shut your power off due to non-payment or change any meters.
Also beware they do use our employee names and it does come up as the City of Crystal Falls.
