Census Bureau: 4% of people in Marquette County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 66,380 citizens living in Marquette County in 2021, 96% said they were only one race, while 4% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Marquette County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 92.3% or 61,260 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 1.6% and totaled 1,092 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Marquette County is 0.6% lower than the state average, which stands at 4.6%.
