Les Cheneaux Community Schools Education: 227 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 227 students enrolled in Les Cheneaux Community Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 7.1% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.7% of them were girls, and 46.3% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 63.4% of the Les Cheneaux Community Schools total enrollment.

Les Cheneaux Community Schools covers one school within Mackinac County with its main office in Cedarville.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
