Moran Township School District welcomed 89 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 89 students enrolled in Moran Township School District in the 2022-23 school year, 6.3% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 61.8% of them were boys, and 38.2% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 53.9% of the Moran Township School District total enrollment.

Moran Township School District covers one school within Mackinac County with its main office in St. Ignace.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
