Busy week ahead for NMU athletics from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6

Northern Michigan University (NMU) athletics will see a busy week from September 30 to October 6, featuring multiple sports events.

The men's golf team starts the week with the Motor City Shakedown, playing round one on Monday and round two on Tuesday. Eric Yun is currently leading the field halfway through round one as the Wildcats return to competition after a two-week break.

On Wednesday, the men's soccer team faces St. Cloud State at 2 PM in a mid-week match. They aim for redemption before concluding the weekend against GLIAC newcomer Roosevelt on Sunday at 3 PM.

Women's soccer returns to Marquette for two GLIAC matches. On Friday, they play Ferris State at 3 PM and Saginaw Valley on Sunday at noon. The Wildcats have a strong home record of 29-3-7 under Jon Sandoval's leadership.

The swim and dive team travels to St. Cloud State for their opening regular season meet after a successful Green and Gold exhibition. They compete on Friday at 4 PM and Saturday at 10 AM.

Football resumes action after a bye week with a home game against GLIAC opponent Saginaw Valley State on Saturday at 1 PM.

Volleyball hosts two matches this week in the newly renovated Vandament Arena: against Saginaw Valley on Friday at 6:30 PM and Lake Superior State on Saturday at 4 PM.

Lastly, NMU hockey heads west for an exhibition contest against Michigan Tech on Saturday at 6:07 PM as they prepare for their upcoming season.
