FOIA Request to Gogebic County Election Division Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

In our continued commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at UP Gazette have requested records under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq. The records sought pertain to the pre-election testing of voting machines used in recent elections.

The request specifically asks for the test reports in PDF format with fields indicating the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed). This information is crucial for understanding the reliability and functionality of the voting machines that play a significant role in our democratic process.

Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
