As the City of Marquette prepares for its annual fall brush and leaf cleanup, officials are reminding residents to avoid placing leaves in the street or along the curb. According to the city, leaves left in these areas can block storm drains, which may lead to street flooding and potential blockages in the storm water system.

Residents are required to place leaves behind the curb line. Failure to comply with this rule is a violation of Section 38-22(c) of the Marquette City Code. The city also asks motorists not to park in ways that block access to leaf piles, as crews will not be able to collect obstructed leaves.

The brush collection is scheduled from October 27 to 31, and leaf collection will take place from November 3 to 14. More details can be found on the City of Marquette website at www.marquettemi.gov.
