The opening of the off-leash dog park at Tourist Park in Marquette has been postponed due to ongoing construction in the area. As a result, starting Monday, October 20, the Power Mill Road entrance to the Tourist Park Campground—located off Sugarloaf Avenue—will be closed to all traffic, including vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.

According to city officials, the new anticipated opening date for the off-leash dog park is November 15. The delay is attributed to safety concerns for both dogs and visitors because of hazards from heavy machinery and hot asphalt paving involved in the construction process.

To compensate for this postponement, the city will extend the off-leash dog park season through May 10, 2026.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding," city representatives stated.
