City of Marquette issued the following announcement on Sept. 6
The Power of Words Mural is officially underway in the City of Marquette. This mural taking shape on the corner of Ohio and Third Streets in downtown Marquette is part of the Power of Words Project. The Power of Words Project is a mural campaign that brings words to life with transformative works of public art. The people of Marquette have raised thousands of dollars partnering with an MEDC Patronicity grant to host this collaborative project, as well as choosing the word, Natural, to describe our community.
Award-winning American artist Mia Tavonatti, accompanied by professional mural team member Sharon Maldonado, will work alongside local artists Emmalene Oysti, Sabrina Langdon, Michele Tuccini, Michelle Earle, Shannon Taylor (NMU Student) and Sari Nomura (NMU Student). The mural is expected to be finished by the end of September. Feel free to stop by and greet the artist and follow the progress of this extraordinary project. The team will be onsite from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
