CITY OF MACKINAC: The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical comes to The Mendel Center on Dec. 18

Christmas2

City of Mackinac issued the following announcement on Oct. 18

For the first time, The Elf on the Shelf® Scout Elves will take center stage in a new live musical debuting this holiday season. The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical makes its only Michigan stop at The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, MI, on Wednesday, December 18, at 7 pm.

Inspired by the beloved box set The Elf on the Shelf®: A Christmas Tradition, this touring stage production will give families an exclusive glimpse into the magical world of Santa’s North Pole through indelible song and dance numbers and a heartwarming tale about Christmas spirit.

This toe-tapping tale tells the story of one particularly impressive Scout Elf™ who must help his new, human family overcome a personal loss and remember the importance of Christmas cheer. Can this tiny elf, along with a host of North Pole pals, make Christmas joyous for his family once again? Featuring an original story and score, dazzling sets and costumes, and wondrous moments that make even the most cynical believe, this momentous celebration of the season leaves spirits high and captivates all with the splendor of Christmas.

The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical is a creative collaboration between CCA & B and Mills Entertainment. The original stage production was developed by Sara Wordsworth (Broadway’s In Transit, Disney’s Frozen JR., Disney Cruise Line’s Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin) as writer and lyricist, Russ Kaplan (Broadway’s In Transit, Dear Albert Einstein) as composer, and Sam Scalamoni (Elf the Musical, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Nickelodeon’s StoryTime Live) as director.

Before the show, families can complete their The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical experience with an exclusive pre-show photo opportunity with a Scout Elf. Photos will take place in front of a magical North Pole backdrop featuring a Christmas tree decorated by Santa’s Scout Elves where children can leave a personalized message for Santa. As a commemorative takeaway, the VIP access badge becomes a keepsake that can be hung on the Christmas tree at home for years to come. This photo opportunity begins at 5:30 pm and costs $50 per family. The VIP ticket allows for one photo per family, taken on your camera by our staff, with the Scout Elf.  Space is limited. VIP and performance tickets sold separately.

Tickets for The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical are on sale at www.TheMendelCenter.com, through The Mendel Center Box Office at (269) 927-8700, option 1, and in person weekdays from 10 am to 6 pm at the box office located in the Grand Upton Hall lobby of The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College, 2755 E. Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor.
