37.8% unemployed in Sault Ste. Marie in 2017

37.8 percent of Sault Ste. Marie residents between 16 and 65 years old were unemployed in 2017, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The percentage of unemployed residents was less than the statewide total of 38.8 percent for this demographic group. In 2017 the total Sault Ste. Marie population reached 11,329.

Out of 7,049 people who had a job, 110 were employed in the Armed Forces and 6,939 belonged to the civilian labor force.

The total unemployment numbers include residents of all ages who are not working.
