Upnet Baraga Telephone issued the following announcement on April 23
We applied for funding for the Keweenaw area last year under the USDA ReConnect grant. Unfortunately, we did not receive the grant. The USDA had allocated 600 million dollars for grants, and received requests totaling 1.4 billion. The USDA strongly encouraged us to reapply for the next round of grants this spring, which we have done. We are currently waiting to hear back on this next round of funding, and are committed to pursuing all avenues to bring fiber to the Keweenaw.
