74 percent of applicants to Michigan Technological University were admitted for fall 2018

At Michigan Technological University, 96 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 72 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Houghton enrolled 7,172 students in fall 2018, including 5,797 in undergraduate and 1,375 in graduate programs, data shows. 2.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

76 percent of undergraduates are residents of Michigan, and 23 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (88 percent) and two or more races (3 percent).

The school admitted 74 percent of the 5,838 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 29 percent enrolled.
