There were 135 total OASDI widow and parent beneficiaries in Michigan ZIP Code 49841 in 2020, a 3.8 percent increase over 2019, according to the Social Security Administration.

There were 130 total widow and parent beneficiaries in 2019.

The Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) program aims to supplement a worker's lost wages due to retirement, disability or death of a spouse.

The Social Security Administration program is funded primarily through payroll taxes. It was signed into law in 1935 by then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
