RECOGNIZING THE SERVICE OF D.J. JACOBETTI MICHIGAN VETERANS HOME
______
HON. JACK BERGMAN
of michigan
in the house of representatives
Friday, November 12, 2021
Mr. BERGMAN. Madam Speaker, on this Veterans Day, it is my honor to recognize the D.J. Jacobetti Veterans Home for decades of service to veterans, their families, and our communities. Through their tireless work and steadfast devotion to veterans, D.J. Jacobetti has become an indispensable part of the Upper Peninsula and the State of Michigan.
D.J. Jacobetti was created in Marquette, Michigan, in 1981 following the increase in Michigan's veteran population after the Vietnam War. The establishment of the facility featured a spacious four-story building that was renovated from the former St. Mary's Hospital and was appropriately dedicated to the Yooper and longest serving member of the Michigan House of Representatives, Dominic J. Jacobetti. Throughout the past 40 years, D.J. Jacobetti and their staff have worked diligently to improve the lives of countless veterans, offering a variety of care options which include an on-site pharmacy, rehab and therapy, dementia care, and many others. The impact of their work has bettered the quality of life for many Yoopers, and their devotion to our veterans and local community cannot be overstated.
Madam Speaker, it's my honor to recognize D.J. Jacobetti Michigan Veterans Home for their continued service to veterans and our Upper Peninsula communities. Michiganders can take great pride in knowing the First District is home to such dedicated citizens. On behalf of my constituents, I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
