City of Midland issued the following announcement on Feb 28.
If the future planning, development, and growth of Midland is important to you, the City of Midland invites you to apply for an open position on the City’s Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission currently has a vacancy for one citizen-at-large position with a term expiring June 30, 2022.
The Planning Commission is responsible for overseeing the City's master plan, conducting public hearings, and offering recommendations to the City Council on a wide range of local land use issues including site plans for new developments, zoning law amendments, and various land divisions. This commission meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at 7 p.m.

Applicants may submitted their completed applications by email to cityhall@midland-mi.org; by mail to City Hall, Attention: City Manager’s Office, 333 W. Ellsworth Street, Midland, MI 48640; or by placing the application inside an envelope and putting it into the secure drop box located inside the front doors of City Hall. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
Applicants must be City of Midland residents. No previous experience or professional experience is required to serve; however, applicants must be able to attend the scheduled meetings. Any applicants who have previously applied for a board or commission vacancy are asked to submit a new application.
