Which political committee based in a city associated with Marquette County spent the most during Q1 2021?

Committee to Elect Sara Cambensy for 109th District for State Representation spent the most out of all the political committees based in a city associated with Marquette County during the first quarter of 2021, according to the Michigan Department of State.

The committee paid $8,610 to 31 vendors.

The largest expense was $1,150 paid to Mackinac Island-based Lakeview Hotel for rooms reserved for mackinac policy conference sept..

The second largest political spend from a committee operating in a city within Marquette County during the quarter came from Michigan Democratic Party Rural Caucus. It spent $2,295 during the time period on 13 different vendors.

What’s known as “dark money,” which comes from political non-profits and shell corporations, has greatly increased expenditures and donations in recent elections to record-breaking highs.
