The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 women's and men's soccer Academic All-District lists on November 19, highlighting 11 Wildcats for their achievements both academically and athletically. The honorees were selected for their outstanding performances in the classroom and on the field.
The CSC Academic All-America® program recognizes student-athletes across four divisions: NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA. Those named as Academic All-District® honorees are eligible to advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Finalists marked with an asterisk will move forward to the national ballot for further consideration by CSC members.
The release of the 2024 CSC Academic All-America soccer teams is scheduled for December 10 for men and December 11 for women.
In women's soccer, six Wildcats received recognition. Senior midfielder Brooke Pietila*, with a GPA of 3.89 in Sports Science, scored ten goals during her season. Senior defender Maria Storm* has a GPA of 3.69 in Construction Management and played all matches as a starter. Junior forward Justina L'Esperance*, studying Nursing with a GPA of 3.58, led with fifteen goals this season.
Additional honorees include junior defender Hannah Kastamo, who holds a GPA of 3.92 in Nursing; junior defender Kenna Alexander with a GPA of 3.89 in Public Relations; and sophomore forward Madison Bilbia, maintaining a GPA of 3.91 in Social Media Design Management.
On the men's side, five athletes were recognized. Sophomore defender Alessandro Scialanga* achieved a perfect GPA of 4.00 in Business while scoring three goals this season. Academic senior forward Tommaso Lami also holds a perfect GPA of 4.00 in Economics.
Other male honorees include sophomore defender Finn van den Berg with a GPA of 3.96 in Business; sophomore defender James Carr with a GPA of 3.86 in Financial Management; and junior midfielder Jan Hoffmann who has maintained a GPA of 3.73 in Psychology.
The Wildcats have had several players previously recognized by the CSC for their academic achievements alongside athletic performance from previous years.
