State Representative Dave Prestin, a Republican from Cedar River, is set to participate in a town hall discussion organized by the Menominee County Farm Bureau. The event, scheduled for Friday, February 9, will focus on local control issues that impact communities in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan.

Invitations have been extended to state representatives from Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, with the aim of addressing topics such as aggregate mining, septic codes, and short-term rentals. The town hall will provide an opportunity for lawmakers to engage in an open forum, sharing insights and discussing potential solutions to better serve their districts.

In a statement, Rep. Prestin emphasized the importance of empowering local communities and ensuring their autonomy in addressing their unique needs. He said, "Our goal is to foster a dialogue that not only highlights relevant challenges on these issues, but also explores innovative approaches to address them."

The meeting will take place at the Menominee County Annex building in Stephenson, Michigan, from 5 to 7 p.m. Central time, and 6 to 8 p.m. Eastern time. While attendance is encouraged, those unable to attend can still make their voices heard. They can contact Rep. Prestin's office at (517)-373-0156 or email [email protected] to express their opinions on local control.

This town hall discussion presents an opportunity for community members to engage with their elected representatives and contribute to the decision-making process. By addressing the concerns surrounding local control, it is hoped that innovative solutions can be found to benefit the residents of the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan.
