FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024

FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Dekalb County. The request, dated September 26, 2024, seeks access to public records detailing all payments made to vendors within the county from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024.

The specific fields requested include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid. This information is crucial in our role as journalists as it allows us to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.

We believe that access to these records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we also believe we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

We will continue working tirelessly towards ensuring accountability and transparency in local government affairs. We await Dekalb County's response and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
