The NMU men's soccer team concluded their road trip with a 2-1 defeat against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals. The match, held in University Center, Michigan, saw the Cardinals take an early lead by scoring in the 11th minute after dominating the initial phase with six attempts.

James Carr brought NMU back into contention by scoring his first career goal as a Wildcat after capitalizing on a rebound 20 minutes later. Goalkeeper Nils Cedergren made three crucial saves in the last 15 minutes of the first half to maintain a level scoreline at halftime. Cedergren's performance included six saves throughout the match, marking a personal best for a single game.

In the second half, NMU initially outshot their opponents but eventually conceded again when Jayden Cameron scored for Saginaw Valley State. Despite several opportunities from corner kicks and free kicks, including an attempt by Cedergren himself, NMU could not find an equalizer.

The Cardinals recorded opponent highs against NMU in shots (15), shots on target (8), and corner kicks (9). Over the weekend, NMU's record stood at 0-1-1 following matches against Davenport and Saginaw Valley State. They will have another chance to face both teams at home next weekend.
