FOIA Request to Marquette County Election Division Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024. As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at UP Gazette have submitted a request for records under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq.

The requested records pertain specifically to the pre-election test reports of voting machines used in the county's elections. We have asked for these reports to be provided in PDF format and include key details such as the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed the test).

As a member of the media, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
