A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Keweenaw County Election Division on October 30, 2024. The request, made by us at UP Gazette, sought detailed information regarding the pre-election testing of voting machines used in the county.
In our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we requested specific records under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq. We asked for these records to be provided in an electronic format, specifically a PDF document.
The records we sought included details about the pre-election tests conducted on each voting machine. Specifically, we requested information about the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and whether each machine passed or failed its respective test.
