The Northern Michigan University men’s soccer team will travel to St. Cloud State for its fourth GLIAC match of the 2025 season. The Wildcats, who currently have a conference record of 1-2-0 and an overall record of 2-2-3, are entering their third week of GLIAC play. St. Cloud State, in their second week of conference action, holds a 1-1-0 GLIAC record and stands at 3-3-1 overall.

Both teams are coming off weekends with one win and one loss. NMU defeated Purdue Northwest 1-0 but lost to Roosevelt, last year’s regular season champions, by the same scoreline. St. Cloud State beat Davenport 1-0 before falling to Saginaw Valley 0-1.

In the current conference standings, NMU is ranked fourth while St. Cloud State is fifth, making this upcoming game important for both teams’ positions in the league.

The match will take place at Husky Stadium on Sunday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

According to head coach Alex Fatovic:

"The Wildcats have been powerful on the offensive side of the ball, as NMU is second in the GLIAC in shots on goal per game (4.43) and third in corner kicks (31).

Leading the offensive charge are Teun Van Gansewinkel and Luca Rosen. They both lead the conference in shots (22), with Rosen second (11) and Van Gansewinkel eighth (8) in shots on target.

Van Gansewinkel and Luca Rosen are tied as the team's leaders in points, with two goals apiece, placing them at sixth in the conference.

Asaf Krital has continued to show up in big ways for the 'Cats. Kristal remains second in the GLIAC in goals against (6) with a GAA of 0.857, and has recorded three shutouts, just one shy of the conference lead. Kristal is fourth in the conference for saves (20), third for SV% (0.76), and fifth for saves per game (2.86).

Kristal leads the team in minutes played with 630, followed by Owen Rutledge (623), Quint Van Roij (617), and James Carr (605)."

St. Cloud State has scored at least once in every match this season except their recent loss to Saginaw Valley State University. The Huskies lead Division II nationally in shot accuracy at .649 and average more fouls per game than any other team in their league.

Their top scorer Andrés García is second among all GLIAC players with four goals so far this season; he also ranks high for shots on goal and game-winning goals within the conference statistics. Seven additional Huskies players each have scored once this year while Ryder Delport and Diego Ramos are among league leaders for assists.

St. Cloud goalkeeper Ramy Atia has a save percentage of .649—third best among his peers—and has made one shutout appearance this season with a goals-against average of 2.30.
