Standout forward Luca Rosen has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, according to an announcement by the conference.
Rosen contributed two goals in Northern Michigan's 3-0 victory over St. Cloud State on Sunday, first drawing and converting a penalty before scoring again after intercepting a pass from a defender and finishing one-on-one against the goalkeeper.
Earlier in the week, Rosen recorded 10 shots in a match against Parkside, tying his single-game season high. This performance highlights his offensive contributions throughout the season.
Head coach Alex Fatovic commented, "Another great performance from Luca and a deserving award. However, what impressed me and his teammates the most were the things that don't show up in the box score; hard work, tackling, defending, and his overall liveliness and determination to fight for every ball. Those moments led to his goals. When Luca is on a pen or one-on-one, it's automatic with him. Great job Luca, keep it up!"
Rosen currently leads the GLIAC in total shots (60) and shots on goal (33). Nationally, he ranks first in shots per game (4.79) and sixth in shots on goal per game (1.93). His goal and point totals (7-0--14) are second only to Fynn Mewes of Roosevelt (8-1--17), while both players lead their conference with three game-winning goals each.
Fynn Mewes and Roosevelt are scheduled to play Northern Michigan this Friday in Marquette.
Other Wildcats recognized as GLIAC Players of the Week this season include Owen Rutledge for defense in week two, Asaf Kristal for defense in week six, and Rosen himself previously for offense in weeks six and eight.
