The Lake Superior State University Kinesiology Club is preparing to host its annual Great Lake State Weekend (GLSW) 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, October 25. The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Victory Bell outside the Norris Center and is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels.
According to Sophie Gibbs, President of the Kinesiology Club, "The event invites participants of all ages and fitness levels to engage in a morning of physical activity and community building. The 5K course traverses LSSU campus, offering scenic views and a supportive atmosphere for runners and walkers alike."
Registration costs $25 for those who sign up ahead of time and $30 for day-of registration. Chip timing services will be provided by Yooper Running Company. After the race, door prizes will be distributed, and medals will be awarded to podium finishers.
Funds raised from the event will go toward supporting various club initiatives such as the 3v3 Basketball Tournament, professional conference attendance, and the annual Hat and Mitten Holiday Drive.
