The Presidential Honor Award was established by the Bay de Noc Community College Foundation in July of 1997 in honor of Dr. Dwight E. Link, President Emeritus of Bay College. The award recognizes students graduating with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA who demonstrate outstanding leadership and substantial involvement on campus. Congratulations to Brianna O’Driscoll and Summer Swick, the recipients of the 2020 Presidential Honor Award.

Brianna O’Driscoll is an Early Middle College student at Bay College through Escanaba High School. She is graduating with an Associate in Science degree with a focus in Chemistry. Next fall, Brianna will be going to NMU and will be double majoring in Clinical Lab Science and Secondary Education in Chemistry. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, and snuggling with her dog at her home in Escanaba. She was part of the group that started the new Circle K Club at Bay College this past fall and currently serves as the secretary on the Bay Circle K Board. Brianna chose Bay College because it gave her the opportunity to stay in her hometown while transitioning to being a college student. She has been so thankful to Bay College for all of the opportunities and all the amazing professors that constantly support their students.

Summer Swick is a student at the Bay College West Campus. She chose Bay College because she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do after high school and felt like Bay West offered her the flexibility to explore her interests. She credits the college’s supportive, encouraging, and inspiring staff that has helped her to succeed and find her passion. Summer will be earning her Associate in Arts degree with a concentration in Sociology. Summer plans to transfer to a four-year school to continue her education in Sociology and Human Services. During her time at Bay, she has worked at the IT Center as a tutor and as a supplemental instructor. She has also volunteered at the Bay West Family Fun Night and Pride Club.

The video presentation from Bay College President, Dr. Laura Coleman, presenting the Presidential Honor Award to Brianna O'Driscoll and Summer Swick, along with their acceptance speeches for this great honor, can be viewed on the Bay College Student Awards web page.
