The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team is preparing for its final two matches of the 2025 regular season. The Wildcats will play Roosevelt on Friday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a game against Purdue Northwest on Sunday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m.
Sunday's match will also serve as Senior Night, recognizing seniors Alessandro Scialanga, Jan Hoffmann, Max Rebori, Triston Nelson, Mads Huegel, and Harry Gray as they play their last regular season home game.
With their most recent positive result, NMU has a chance to host the quarterfinals of next weekend’s conference tournament. The Wildcats currently have a record of 5-4-5 and are in fourth place in the GLIAC standings. This position secures them a spot in postseason play. Roosevelt enters the weekend ranked second with a record of 7-2-1 and is competing for the regular-season title. Purdue Northwest holds eighth place with a record of 1-7-2.
Luca Rosen was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Rosen has scored seven goals and made fourteen points this year—second only to Fynn Mewes from Roosevelt, who leads with eight goals and seventeen points.
“Luca Rosen secured the Offensive Player of the Week title by scoring the final two goals in the 3-0 win over St. Cloud State on Sunday, October 26. He also matched a single-game and season-high 10 shots in the Parkside match on Wednesday, October 22. In conference play, Rosen leads the GLIAC in shots (60) and shots on goal (33). The 'Cat is also leading the nation in shots per game (4.79) and marks sixth in the nation for shots on goal per game (1.93).”
Goalkeeper Asaf Kristal leads his conference with an .841 save percentage and shutouts per game; he has recorded seven shutouts over fourteen games and ranks second in total saves with sixty-nine.
This season, NMU has scored thirteen goals—ten during conference matches—and averages just under one goal per game. Tuen Van Gansewinkel has contributed six points to these efforts.
Roosevelt recently split its last weekend’s games against Saginaw Valley and Davenport. Fynn Mewes leads Roosevelt with ten goals and two assists—the highest individual tally in their conference so far this year.
Purdue Northwest stands at eighth place with two wins overall this season; Landon Potts is their top scorer with four goals and one assist.
