The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team lost 3-0 to Saginaw Valley State University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match on Sunday morning. The game, played in rainy conditions at University Center, Michigan, saw the Wildcats fall to a season record of 4-4-4 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play.

Saginaw Valley State dominated offensively, outshooting Northern Michigan 24-4 and holding a 12-0 advantage in shots on goal. NMU goalkeeper Asaf Kristal made eight saves to keep his team competitive.

The Cardinals scored the opening goal in the 35th minute when Evan Baker headed in a cross from Liam Zimmerman. Saginaw Valley State added two more goals late in the match. Matty Telfer set up Narcis Gravalda for his first career goal in the 85th minute, and Gabe Olla scored shortly after on a counterattack.

The Wildcats had limited offensive opportunities. Their best chance came just before halftime when SVSU goalkeeper Nick Kay intercepted a crossing pass to prevent an equalizer.

Northern Michigan will next play against the Parkside Rangers on Wednesday, October 22, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
