The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team is preparing for its final regular-season road game, set to face Parkside in a mid-week match. The Wildcats have played three road games in six days, following recent losses to Davenport and Saginaw Valley. This marks the first time this season that NMU has experienced consecutive defeats.

Currently, the Wildcats have a record of 4-4-4 overall and 3-4-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The upcoming contest against Parkside holds particular importance as it impacts playoff positioning. Parkside, with a record of 4-4-3 overall and 4-2-2 in GLIAC play, sits third on the conference table with 14 points. NMU is fourth with 10 points. A win for the Wildcats would narrow the gap between the teams to just one point and improve their chances of securing home-field advantage for the first round of the GLIAC playoffs. Conversely, a loss would widen Parkside's lead to seven points with only three matches remaining.

The two teams previously met earlier this season in Marquette during their conference opener. Parkside won that encounter 3-1, with Luca Rosen scoring for NMU. Historically, NMU has only beaten Parkside twice, both victories occurring on the road.
