Nonprofits in Marquette County can get help from the COVID-19 Community Response Fund to help people struggling during the novel coronavirus crisis.
The United Way of Marquette County has partnered with the Community Foundation to create the fund.
“It will be used to help fund nonprofits who are helping people through this time of crisis,” Sue Minckler, executive assistant at the United Way of Marquette County, told WMNU-FM. “For example, it will buy a thermometer for a hospice house, personal protection equipment for people with disabilities, food for kids who are out of school.”
If you want to donate to the fund -- or are a nonprofit that wants to apply for funds -- visit the Community Foundation of Marquette County website.
“Through this Fund, we are accepting requests for short-term funding to support operations of organizations that are struggling with immediate lost revenue and nonrecoverable expenses due to COVID-19,” the website says.
Grants will range up to $2,000. Organizations must hold 501c3 nonprofit status from the IRS and should be operating in Marquette County, according to the Community Foundation's website.
