Great Pumpkin Walk to Bring Trick-or-Treat Fun to Downtown East Lansing on Sunday, Oct. 23

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The annual Great Pumpkin Walk will kick off this year’s Halloween fun in downtown East Lansing on Sunday, Oct. 23.

Community members are invited to bring their children downtown in costume for a family-friendly trick-or-treating event from 1-4 p.m. More than 25 businesses will serve as trick-or-treating stations in the downtown area. Parking is free. While there is no official starting point, attendees are encouraged to pick up a free pumpkin from either William B. Sharp Park, located at the corner of Abbot Road and Albert Avenue, or from the 500-block pedestrian alleyway at 139 Bailey Street.

Besides trick-or-treating, fun activities planned for this year’s event include pumpkin painting, a caricature artist, a visit from the HopCat cat, photos with princesses and superheroes from Royal Encounters MSU and live music by indie rock band Pretty Jane & the Magazines at Ann Street Plaza, located at the corner of Albert and M.A.C. avenues, from 1:30-3 p.m. For the 11th year, Wild Goose Inn at 512 Albert Ave. will transform into the Land of Oz from 2-4 p.m.
