EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing is pleased to welcome a new events and reservations specialist to the staff at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC).

Rose Barnes began her full-time employment with the City of East Lansing on January 17, 2023. In her role as an events and reservations specialist, Barnes responds to requests from community members who wish to reserve meeting or event space at the ELHCC.

The ELHCC, which was built in 1926, once served as East Lansing’s high school and later as a middle school. It has since been beautifully renovated and offers a variety of different spaces for meetings, conferences and receptions as well as other events such as birthday parties, wedding and baby showers and graduation open houses.

The various meeting space options within the ELHCC include rooms that can accommodate up to 160 guests; the Atrium Board Room with fixed executive table for ten; a former classroom, often used for birthday parties; the Recital Room, which has a small stage and is often used for wedding and baby showers; two gymnasiums; the Albert A. White Performing Arts Theater; a dance studio; and an indoor pool with a slide.

“I enjoy talking to people and getting to know the community in this job,” East Lansing Events and Reservations Specialist Rose Barnes said. “And I love the staff that I work with here at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center. They are the best!”

For more information about reserving a room at the ELHCC, including room rental rates, visit  www.cityofeastlansing.com/eventspaces. For questions about reserving a meeting or event space, contact Rose Barnes at (517) 319-6944 or by email at rbarnes@cityofeastlansing.com.
