Census Bureau: 79.5% of people in Houghton County were old enough to vote in 2021

Of the 37,485 citizens living in Houghton County in 2021, 79.5% were old enough to vote, equating to 29,812 individuals, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26.

Further breakdown reveals that of the voting-eligible population, 16,299 were male, constituting 54.7%, and 13,513 were female, making up 45.3%.

The percentage of citizens old enough to vote in Houghton County during 2021 was higher than the state average, which stands at 78.2%.
